21st June 2007 - Summer Solstice
Avebury. There will be extremely limited car park access to Avebury for this year's Solstice celebrations. We would strongly advise people not to try to visit both Stonehenge and Avebury, as the car parks at Avebury will be full and police will be towing away people parked on the verges.
This year, the National Trust has introduced changes to the car park operation in order to-comply with the Enforcement Notice issued by Kennet District Council.
Useful Information:
Stonehenge. Free and Open Access has been arranged in liaison with English Heritage and Wiltshire Constabulary for the 8th consecutive year.
Access to the stones will be from 8.30pm on Wednesday 20th June 2007, until 8am on Thursday 21st June 2007. The car park will open 7pm on the 20th, with last admission at 6am on the 21st. Disabled minibuses will run from the car park to the stones - all other access is an approximate 1 mile walk from the car park. Buses will run from both Salisbury and Amesbury on the night, returning the next morning.
